(The Hosting News) – HOUSTON – The Planet, a global leader in IT hosting, today announced the availability of the Dell PowerVault MD3000i, a high-performance storage area network (SAN) disk array. Ideal for multi-server environments such as virtual and private racks, the MD3000i offers a cost-effective and scalable storage solution.

The MD3000i uses iSCSI Ethernet technology to enable shared storage across multiple servers, eliminating the need to build out a costly fiber channel infrastructure. Up to 16 servers can share the MD3000i, which has 15 internal drive slots for a total storage capacity up to 15 terabytes (TB). In the event more capacity is required, companies can add up to two MD1000 storage arrays to the MD3000i for an additional 45TB.
“One of the most critical business challenges customers face today is data storage, and all too often it’s also one of the most costly,” said Rob Walters, director of product management for The Planet. “The MD3000i lowers the barrier to entry for high-performance, consolidated storage, and also provides a clear path for expansion for companies that expect to see their storage requirements grow.”

About the Dell PowerVault MD3000i
The iSCSI SAN array provides a scalable and low-cost storage solution, which continually protects daily operations and enables an easy path for expansion:
Cost-effective: The MD3000i, The Planet’s lowest-priced SAN, can be shared by as many as 16 servers, which eliminates the high cost of buying individual storage devices for each server.

Scalable: In addition to its 15 internal drive slots, customers can add up to two 15-drive MD1000 disk arrays to the MD3000i, for up to 45TB of storage.

Capable: With its large capacity and high availability, the MD3000i is ideal for businesses running performance-intensive applications, databases, and file or archive storage.

Through Dec. 31, the company is offering a promotion on the MD3000i and MD1000. Customers will receive either the SAN or DAS enclosure free with purchase of 15 1TB or 300GB hard drives, a savings up to $650 per month. For details, visit http://www.theplanet.com/Direct-Attached-Storage-Offer/.

Asheville, NC – August 11, 2009 – Netriplex, LLC today announced plans to extend its high-capacity fiber connectivity from its Asheville, NC, datacenter to the Washington, DC, area and the Northeast United States. The initial phase of this expansion will be a leased OC-192 optical fiber circuit to the network-neutral Equinix facility in Ashburn, Virginia with peering to hundreds of major transit providers.

“This northbound network expansion achieves several goals for our customers,” explains
Netriplex CTO, Jonathan Hoppe. “First, it creates greater resiliency and redundancy
for Netriplex customers if there is a major incident in Atlanta, our primary Internet
peering point. Now we will have full routing diversity both to the north and to the
south. Second, our northward extension opens up access for government and industry
point-to-point circuits between the Washington, DC area and our disaster recovery
datacenter in Asheville. This dedicated fiber connection will allow Netriplex customers
the most competitively priced and fastest bandwidth available to the northeast, just
15 milliseconds and one router hop for either primary or backup server hosting.”

Asheville, North Carolina, has been recognized by both government and industry professionals
as a highly desirable location for storing electronic data securely and economically.
The United States National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the world’s largest active
archive of weather data, is located in Asheville. Likewise, both Google and Apple
have recently chosen western North Carolina’s high security and low operating costs
for their new data centers. A current insurance industry report listed Asheville,
NC, among the “25 Most Secure U.S. Places to Live.” And Asheville is secure without
being remote. It is easily accessed through direct flights from 11 major metro airports
and is within a day’s drive for over half the U.S. population.

Netriplex COO, John Thompson, comments: “Most data centers are in major cities, and
major cities are high risk for both natural and manmade disasters. Extreme weather
hazards can cause loss of power, Internet and vital personnel for even the most ‘hardened’
data centers in their path. Add in the manmade perils of terrorism (think dirty bomb
or EMP bomb), riots, crime, industrial hazards and health epidemics and you can readily
see why Netriplex thought ‘outside the box’ for locating its latest data center in
Asheville. Simply put, our unique location between two mountain ranges protects Netriplex’s
state-of-the-art facility from the risks that threaten most other data centers.”

Asheville, NC – April 30, 2009:  Netriplex LLC, a global datacenter provider
headquartered in Asheville, NC, announced today that it has expanded its workforce
by 30 percent since January 1 to better support its rapidly expanding customer base.
Plainly, the current economic recession is not affecting all industries equally.
Independent datacenters, in fact, are growing.  In its April forecast, market
research firm Forrester says that it expects IT outsourcing sales to increase by 2.1
percent in 2009 and 6.5 percent in 2010.

Chief Technology Officer at Netriplex, Jonathan Hoppe, comments:  “Despite a
difficult economy, the unabated growth of the Internet for social networking, streaming
media, software as a service and other application delivery continues to drive demand
for more datacenter space and power.  Rather than invest significant capital
and operating costs in private data centers, businesses are increasingly outsourcing
to independent datacenters like Netriplex who offer high value in both dedicated and
colocation hosting.”

Netriplex made significant investments in its infrastructure in 2008, making it one
of the most robust independent managed datacenter companies of its size.  “Facility
space at the Asheville datacenter was enlarged by 50 percent, power infrastructure
was tripled, network capacity was enhanced to a new ceiling of 480 Gigabits-per-second,
and bandwidth providers  were increased to 13 and counting,  Now we’ve expanded
30 percent in both sales and support engineering staff,” explains Chief Operating
Officer, John Thompson.  “With that level of robustness and redundancy, Netriplex
remains a value leader in our industry.”

Asheville, NC, March 3, 2009 – Uber Bandwidth (http://UberBandwidth.com),
a leading provider of high-performance high-value bandwidth to the data center colocation
community, announced today that it has surpassed its first connectivity milestone
of offering over a dozen Tier 1 connections to its customers.  Utilizing their
1-Terabit-capable network, Uber Bandwidth has achieved this goal while remaining the
value leader in the industry at $3.99/mbps.

“Thirteen and growing monthly,” counts Jonathan Hoppe, Uber Bandwidth’s Chief Technology
Officer.  “That’s how many Tier-1 Internet providers our colocation customers
can now access at the Uber Center in Asheville, North Carolina.  You can watch
the number of Tier-1 providers increase and see who they are right on our website.
We have open negotiations with a dozen other providers, and once we reach acceptable
agreements we’ll be adding them in to the mix as well.  Our plans for the future
are big.  We’re running diverse path fiber to other carrier hotels around the
United States, and by the end of 2009 we hope to directly peer with over 100 networks.
We are well on our way to creating the most extreme network of multiple 10-gigabit
connections to every major network in the U.S., Canada and Europe.”

To accentuate their new connectivity milestone, Uber Bandwidth’s website got a facelift
too.  Chief Operating Officer, John Thompson, comments:  “Prospective clients
have given rave reviews to the website’s new user-friendly features.  It adds
online pricing not only for bandwidth but also for the Uber Center colocation space
and power, from 1 rack unit up to a full cabinet and more.  And to evaluate the
robustness of our network, there’s now a third-party speed test to use by just clicking
a button on our website.  Perhaps most mentioned, however, is the new blog that
posts timely information about such topics as:  ‘Who is your current list of
Tier-1 providers?  How can you offer premium bandwidth at $3.99/mbps when everyone
else is way higher?  And why is your flagship data center not in a major city?’
Many more topics will be addressed on the Uber Bandwidth blog in the weeks ahead.”

Uber Bandwidth and the Uber Center is a division of Netriplex data centers.
Through 24/7/365 support and remote-hands-and-eyes services, businesses anywhere in
the world can colocate servers in the Uber Center. As demand for the Uber Bandwidth
network grows, Netriplex will deploy it at its six other datacenters across the U.S.
and London.
